Math

At Agapé Jr Academy teachers use a variety of strategies to help students master concepts in mathematics. One methodology used is working on white boards and the classroom chalkboard. Manipulatives and apps are also employed. The teacher is there to guide and facilitate the learning process, and, if necessary, work with individual students so they can grasp the taught concept. The teacher presents a thorough lesson and model working out example on the dry eraser board.

The students write the examples in their note books as future references in completing class assignments and homework. Teachers work closely with state guidelines for students to ensure that the standards are met throughout the semesters. We work with the child’s proficiencies and weaknesses in following the Standard base math curriculum set by the State.

Language Arts

At Agapé Jr Academy during the school year, students will continue with instruction using the English Language Arts Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE). Language Arts include Spelling, Writing, Reading, and Penmanship.

Each day, students will be exposed to a rigorous curriculum in which they will work towards gaining an enduring understanding through skills and strategies.

Students prepare rigorously for standardized tests, read supplemental books, and complete creative projects on those books this semester.

Science

At Agapé Jr Academy teachers strive for excellence in teaching science in the classroom. They engage students with projects, hands-on activities, homework, quizzes, and test as they construct a solid base foundation for each child.

The Georgia Standards are the foundational tools that are adhered to ensure success and proficiency at each grade level. Students are equipped with the needed scientific tools from K-8 to develop inquiry base skills. Students investigate and analyze scientific questions through science fair projects and through projects that highlight the taught units. The 7th and 8th graders demonstrate the ability to communicate mathematically using formulas as they actively answer problem set questions tied to the units under study. This helps students to learn and prepare for the High School rigor in science on graduating from 8th Grade.

Social Studies

At Agapé Jr Academy one of our main goals in teaching and engaging students in social studies is to help prepare them to become productive citizens. The curriculum helps to prepare them for this task and be responsible in carrying out their civic duties as a citizen. It helps them to make decisions that will impact their lives and the community they live in. It also helps them to be aware of the cultural groups that surrounded them daily and how to respond amiably to all. They will learn new concepts to treating each other fairly, respect each other, care for each other, be honest with one another, and engage in wholesome and meaningful conversations. In so doing we help to pave the way for a brighter yet glorious future.
